III. Purpose of Processing
- Account Management: Support for registration, login, authentication, and password reset.
- Real-Time Support: Enable real-time communication via Help Scout and restore session history/identity through cookies.
- Service Improvement: Analyze anonymized usage data to optimize UI and features.
- Security: Monitor abnormal activity, prevent fraud and abuse.
- Legal and Compliance: Respond to regulatory or judicial requests; Help Scout may retain session IPs ≥ 1 year for lawful investigations.
IV. Data Storage and Retention
- Our own servers are located in the United States, where registration emails, third-party login details, and functional cookies (excluding Help Scout data) are processed and stored.
- Help Scout data (messages and IP addresses) are stored in their compliant data centers, under EU/US regulatory frameworks.
- Help Scout retains user session data for at least 1 year; additional records may be removed by our support team upon request.
- We retain your email and related data only while your account is active and purposes remain valid; otherwise, it will be deleted or anonymized in compliance with applicable law.
V. Data Sharing and Transfer
- We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
- If you log in with a third-party service (e.g., Logto), only essential data such as email/username will be transmitted, in line with that provider’s privacy policy.
- For Help Scout support services, Help Scout acts as our Data Processor under a signed GDPR Data Processing Agreement (DPA), ensuring compliant handling (data security, access control, sub-processor management).
- Help Scout does not sell user data and only processes data to provide support services, never for advertising or resale.
- If legally required (e.g., law enforcement), we may disclose data to regulatory or judicial authorities, with strict limitations on scope.
